 Course Description:

 This course covers ethical issues in various situations and settings. The course aims at developing awareness of these issues, it also develops skills for ethical decision-making through careful, analytical methods. Typical issues include interpersonal relationships, information technology, business, medical, Media and others. The course offers students a timely, balanced, and impartial treatment of ethical practices. The course addresses all the topics of the “Social and Professional Issues”. By introducing ethical theories early and using them throughout the course to evaluate moral problems, the aim is to help the students to develop the ability to reach conclusions and defend them in front of an audience. Every issue is studied from the point of view of multiple ethical theories in order to provide a balanced analysis of relevant issues.

 

Course Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to

 

  • Apprise students of the basic understanding of ethics, values, moral, personal responsibility, and relationships between values, ethics, and morals.
  • Create awareness among students about the importance of good moral character, ethical thinking, and guidelines of ethical decision-making.
  • Promote the tolerance of diverse ethical viewpoints.
  • Train students in promoting ethical values in workplaces, becoming good citizens and striving for managerial excellence.
  • Increase the capability of students for evaluating case studies involved in conflicts between personal convictions and professional duties.

-   Ethics and practice " Social Work ethics in practice "

 

Teaching Style:

 

                   The students will be introduced to all of the course topic areas through a combination of lectures, demonstration, practical exercises and Discussions.

 

Group Work and Cheating:

 

            Group work is encouraged for solving assignments and developing the final project. However, copying and claiming someone else's work is cheating. It will be reported and penalized according to university cheating rules
